Permit Writer records the process of creating an MSWord permit document for each Industry. Included in that record are the following:
1. The date the MS Word Permit creation process was run
2. The Status of the Permit creation process (Built, Unable to Build, None Built)
3. A hyperlink to where the created MS Word Permit is kept on the hard drive
4.
A listing of the current Permit Sections
assigned to an Industry for use in creating the MS Word permit.
As an Industry’s permit is renewed over time, multiple Permit records will be created and stored in the Permit Writer, providing a history of the Permitting process, and an archive of MSWord Permits.
Permit Writer allows a user to create MSWord and HTML templates,
known in Permit Writer as Permit Sections, and assign those sections to one or
more Industries. These Permit Sections
have data “merged” into them from the Linko software using MSWord Mail Merge. The data that is “merged” is specific to each
individual Industry. Using Mail Merge
this way allows a municipality to create standard Permit Sections that apply to
many different Industries. These Permit
Sections are then combined together, in an order determined by the
municipality, into one final target MS Word document, the Permit.
When you select the Industry or Group of Industries you wish to
build a Permit Document for, the Permit Writer program queries the LinkoCTS™
database for Industry specific information (such as dates, Monitoring Point
descriptions, parameter limits, etc.) and then builds a MSWord document that
has the Industry and POTW specific permit information contained in it.
This
documentation assumes that you know how to use Microsoft Word 2000/XP/2003 or
2007 and understand the concepts of mail merge. As the Permit Writer program
uses Mail Merge fields to pull information directly from the database, you must
make sure that the database contains accurate information that is pertinent to
the Industry and the final Permit Document.
